Talking about a resolution …

I’m on a bit of a mission about New Year’s resolutions. I know it’s become very fashionable in the past few years to say that you don’t make them. I don’t understand this. I just don’t.

The whole thing that neuroscience has shown us in the past couple of years is that setting intentions will help you actually achieve something.

It’s got to do with what’s called the reticular activating system and basically when you set an intention, your brain will start to help you make that intention manifest.

It’s not Woo Woo. It’s literally science. Even just the act of sitting down and deciding what you want for yourself in 2026 is going to make it more likely that you will get it. Look it up if you don’t believe me.

Now, to be clear, I’m not saying that you have to want to create something in your life. Maybe you’re in one of those wonderful phases where everything is just working out perfectly for you and there’s nothing that you want except maybe more and better of the same thing. In which case, maybe your resolution should be to help other people since you’ve already got everything you want.

But if you’re not in that stage of life right now, and there are things you want to call into your life, even if it’s the ability to learn the lessons that life has been showing you and to act accordingly based on that, it really is worth taking some time to do it.

Just my humble opinion, but I really think this can change lives.

It’s a lovely idea that when we had to let something go this year it was opening up the way to something better but I also think that’s somewhat spiritual bypassing. Sometimes we have to let something go because we just didn’t do it properly. We messed up. And when that happens, there’s always a really important lesson in there for us. And maybe learning that lesson will open us up to our highest good But I think we need to really look at the lesson before we worry about anything else. I know this is probably an unpopular opinion, but as Saturn grinds its way through the last degrees of Pisces, we do need to face up to it. #astrology #yasminboland #dailymoonmessage #moonology #moonmagic

Yesterday I talked about the first big block to manifesting. Today I want to talk about the second one, which is the temptation to leap too far too fast. This one trips up so many people, and it is completely understandable. When you want something, you want it. But manifesting works best when you take baby steps.

In my book Moonology, which will celebrate ten years on the Amazon bestseller lists in 2026, I give an example that readers always remember. Imagine you dream of owning a bright red Mercedes. It is a big dream.

But let us say that right now you have absolutely nothing to get you around town. The jump from no transport to a luxury car is huge. So instead, you start small. You manifest a rickety old bicycle. Then you manifest a slightly better bicycle. You stay grateful for every step. Then one day you find yourself able to manifest an old car. Then a newer one. Then maybe an older Mercedes. Then a newer Mercedes. Step by step you build the pathway. It is the same logic as those Instagram stories where someone trades a paperclip and keeps going until they end up with a house. They do it in increments.

This is how manifesting actually works. Consistent intention. Aligned steps. Gratitude for each stage of the journey.

So often we’re told to keep trying, keep visualising, keep forcing the outcome.
But sometimes manifestation isn’t about effort.
It’s about surrender.
The waning Moon helps you loosen your grip.
On the timeline.
On the outcome.
On the version of the story that’s exhausting you.
If you’re tired, stuck, or quietly wondering whether it’s time to let something go,
