I remember reading business advice a few years back about what to do before you make an important work call.
It was in a very serious article and there was nothing remotely woo woo or New Age about it.
The advice was this…
Before you pick up the phone, decide what you want to get out of the call.
This really struck me. Even though I work so much with intention, I’d never thought about transferring intentions for life to something as specific as a work call.
And yet it made SO much sense, right?
Before you pick up the phone, decide what you want to get out of the call…
Ditto before you send that email or message.
Got it.
To say this was life-changing advice would be a little hyperbolic and over the top but it wasn’t far off.
Of course that’s what I/we should do!
Setting an intention before a call is hugely important – as important as setting intentions for anything.
This idea, simple yet profound, applies to every aspect of our lives, not just work-related calls.
When we set intentions, we’re not just outlining our goals, but we’re aligning our thoughts, emotions, and energies towards achieving them.
It’s like setting the GPS for the journey of our lives. Just as we wouldn’t start a trip without knowing our destination, why should we commence any task, be it a phone call or a new project, without a clear intention?
In Moonology, the power of intention is akin to planting a seed under the right cosmic conditions.
Think of each phone call as a New Moon – a perfect time to initiate, to sow the seeds of what we want to grow. When we articulate our intentions, we’re sending a message to the universe about our desires and goals.
This practice is not just about achieving external success. It’s about cultivating an internal environment where our thoughts and emotions are in harmony with our actions.
When we’re clear about what we want, our subconscious starts to work in tandem with our conscious efforts, paving the way for synchronicities.
Moreover, setting intentions is a powerful tool for mindfulness. It brings us back to the present moment, the only place where we can truly enact change.
By focusing on our intentions, we become more aware of our thoughts, our words, and how they influence our interactions. This awareness is transformative.
So, the next time you’re about to make a work call, or even a personal one, or you’re about to send an important email or message, take a moment to pause and set an intention.
What do you wish to communicate?
What outcome are you hoping for?
How do you want to feel during and after the call?
Remember, the power of intention is not just about influencing the external world; it’s about shaping our inner world, which in turn shapes everything around us.
