The Scorpio Full Moon: Illuminating the Path to Our Shadow Self
Navigating the depths of our inner world can be as complex and bewildering as it is crucial to do.
Many of us wrestle with the concept of facing our shadow—the hidden, often darker aspects of our personality that we typically avoid or deny.
Understanding our shadow can be challenging – at least it has always been so for me; it’s not just about recognizing our flaws or negative experiences, but acknowledging our role in parts of our life which seem to have gone awry…
Quick story … I actually remember the first time I really owned my shadow – I had just come out of a toxic relationship where the guy had actually been with someone else at the start of it – he lied and said he was single, but I did find out the truth – by that stage I was already emotionally involved, and instead of cutting it off, I kind of held my breath to see what would happen…
It all eventually went pear-shaped for us a few years later, in the most horrible way you can imagine. For a good year or two, I felt like a victim, but then I went to the Sri Narayani Peedam in India – the ashram I am always talking about – and sat in prayer pujas for up to 12 hours a day, seven days a week for five weeks – oh yes I did!!! – and eventually I realised something …
*I* had had a part to play in that dreadful relationship which had undone me. It wasn’t just him being this or that or the other, *I* had had a part to play. It was partly my fault. I had walked in with eyes more or less open. I had been toxic too.
And that, dear reader, was me facing my shadow…
Why am I talking about this now? Because we’re on the verge of the Scorpio Full Moon – … so it’s time for some shadow work.
The Dance with the Shadow
Maybe you haven’t been as actively at fault as I was but consider the times you’ve stayed in a relationship that drained your spirit, yet you clung on anyway.
Or those times when an involvement you knew was wrong caused pain, and you had to admit your part in it, as I did.
Maybe there was an instance where your actions towards someone backfired, leading to a harsh but necessary self-revelation.
These are dances with our shadow, and while the music may be uncomfortable, it’s a tune we need to hear if we want to grow.
The Revelatory Scorpio Full Moon
Enter the Scorpio Full Moon, an annual celestial event that serves as a powerful mirror reflecting our hidden selves.
Scorpio, with its penetrating insight, invites us to dive deep into our psyches.
The Full Moon in Scorpio TOMORROW isn’t just another phase; it’s a cosmic call to bravely confront those parts of ourselves we’d rather not see.
Why Face Your Shadow?
Facing our shadow isn’t about self-criticism; it’s about self-awareness. Here’s why this courageous act can lead to a healthier, more fulfilled life:
- Healing and Wholeness: Accepting all parts of ourselves paves the way for true healing and a sense of wholeness.
- Personal Power: By facing our shadows, we reclaim the power we’ve projected onto others, leading to greater self-control and autonomy. In my case, I went from feeling like a victim to realising I could do better.
- Improved Relationships: Self-awareness allows us to interact with others more authentically, fostering deeper connections and making life sweeter.
- Spiritual Growth: Confronting our shadow can be a profound spiritual practice that grounds us in reality and enhances our compassion for ourselves and others.
How the Scorpio Full Moon Helps
- It Illuminates the Unseen: Just as the Full Moon lights up the night, it also highlights the parts of our lives we often overlook.
- It Encourages Emotional Release: Scorpio’s intensity helps us release pent-up emotions, which is essential for shadow work.
- It Provides Transformative Energy: This Full Moon in Scorpio in particular offers us the transformative energy we need to change patterns that no longer serve us. Remember, Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth. We can die to our old selves and be reborn.
